Nurture the relationships, practices & systems of care you wish to bring to the world.
Nurture the practices, relationships & systems of care you wish to bring to the world.
Amid the rolling hills, sun-dappled olive groves, and timeless villages, this retreat offers a gentle way to experience Tuscany.
Our home for the week is a family villa and regenerative farm. Here, life moves in rhythm with the land, and every detail—from the restored stone villa to the homegrown meals—is rooted in care.
Created for introverted, sensitive, and neurodivergent people, you’ll be in an environment that fosters real connection. And your social rhythms and sensory needs will be honored every step of the way.
Through yoga, and immersion in nature and Tuscan life, you’ll find your own pace, reset your nervous system, and rediscover the strength that helps you sustain your care for others—and yourself.

The Land & Space
A Tuscan Sanctuary
Le Pianore Agriturismo is nestled between the sea and the slopes of Monte Amiata at 734 m (2,408 ft) in the town of Monticello Amiata. This is the heart of the wild Tuscan Maremma—an idyllic place to pause, connect with nature, and savor the rhythm of rural life.
The villa is steeped in history, with a lovingly restored farmhouse and cottage dating back to the 700s and 1100s. Newer structures include an energy-efficient straw house and a spacious yurt.
The farm produces many fruits and vegetables, extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, wine, grappa, honey, and artisanal preserves. These ingredients are woven into meals and experiences, offering guests a true taste of Tuscany.
Early June is a lovely time to visit: warm days, cool evenings, and fresh mountain air. While tourism starts to pick up, the places we’ll explore remain uncrowded, offering quiet, authentic experiences.
By car, Le Pianore is approximately:
-
2.5 hours from Rome (FCO)
-
2 hours from Florence, Pisa, or Perugia
-
60–90 minutes from Siena, the Tuscan coast, charming hill towns, and thermal baths
Tuscany Retreat Accommodations
The Farmhouse features 7 bedrooms. Almost all have private bathrooms and direct access to the gardens.
The Cottage has 2 rooms, each with 2 twin beds and a private bathroom. Built of wood and straw according to principles of green building, it is completely energy self-sufficient.
The Yurt comes with 1 double bed, 2 twin beds, and a beautiful private bathroom a few steps away. It is nestled in the woods, with a skylight and large windows looking out to the greenery.
Thanks to the elevation and building design, A/C isn’t needed—nights cool to around 60°F / 16°C.
Farm-Fresh Food
Meals highlight the flavors of Tuscany and are created with fresh, seasonal ingredients from the farm’s organic gardens and other local producers. The menu is mostly vegetarian, though meat dishes are also served. Most dietary needs can be accommodated.
Places for Rest and Exploration
The grounds will be private for our group. You’ll find many spots to relax or explore, including a swimming pool, a bio lake, hiking trails, indoor and outdoor yoga spaces, massage room, and vibrant gardens. You’ll also meet many furry friends on the farm!
Yoga in Tuscany
My aim is to help you befriend your body, support your nervous system, and connect to yourself. I teach from a trauma-informed lens rooted in accessibility and choice. My classes invite self-paced movement so you can explore what feels supportive.
The thing I appreciated the most was Melissa’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion. I have mobility issues and I never felt like I couldn’t do something because of it, especially the yoga classes. I have been practicing yoga on and off for about 18 years and I have NEVER had a yoga teacher as invested in making yoga this accessible as Melissa.

Melissa was organized, accommodating and a beautiful person to connect with. She made the retreat exceptional. It was great to be surrounded with like-minded people, as we all felt we could easily open up and genuinely be ourselves.
Melissa sets everyone at ease without fuss. She arranges supportive yoga sessions and encourages adventures out on your own. I never felt rushed or overwhelmed. Lifelong friendships were forged and forever memories engraved on my heart.
Melissa is way more than just a trip organizer, she goes above and beyond to connect people together and creates an atmosphere of open-mindedness with other travelers, local people, and local experiences.
FAQs
Cancellation Policy & Payment
Read the full terms of our Yoga International Retreat Agreement before reserving your spot.
Deposit
– A $500 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required to reserve your spot.
– Remaining balances must be paid by March 3, 2026 (90 days before trip start date).
Trip Cancelled by Participant
If you decide to cancel your trip for any reason, the following fees apply at the time we receive written notice of your cancellation:
Trip Cancelled / Postponed by Us
We reserve the right to make reasonable changes to the itinerary or postpone the retreat for participant safety or other unforeseen circumstances. If we must postpone, 100% of your payments, will be applied toward the same retreat on future dates.
We also reserve the right to cancel any retreat prior to departure if there are too few participants, in which case you will receive a full refund, including your deposit. Please wait to book flights or other non-refundable travel arrangements until the retreat is confirmed, which will be no later than 120 days before the retreat start date. Once the retreat reaches the minimum number of participants, we will notify you directly so you can confidently move forward with your travel plans.
Getting to the Venue
Recommended Airport
We recommend flying into Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and arriving at least one day before the retreat begins. FCO is roughly 2.5 hours from the retreat.
Transportation Options
Airport transfers are not included for this retreat, as doing so would raise the retreat price for everyone by over €200 / $230 per person. We’re offering the flexibility to pay for what suits you—rental car, shared ride, or other transportation.
We suggest renting a car if you want to explore in your free time. Taxis are not easily accessible Le Pianore. Shared transport can be arranged for outings, but it’s not cheap. We’ll have a Signal group for participants to connect if you want to share a rental car.
Shared Van
We will arrange group vans from a hotel near Fiumicino Airport (FCO). These vans will depart around 12:30 p.m. on June 1st. Vans will be organized on a first-come, first-served basis, and final prices will depend on the number of passengers.
Example Cost from Rome FCO
A one-way van for 7 pax costs approximately:
→ ~ €70 / $81 USD per person one-way
→ ~ €140 / $162 USD per person round-trip
Other Airports
If you plan to rent a car and extend your travel, the following airports are all between 2-3 hours from the retreat: Rome Ciampino (CIA), Florence (FLR), Pisa (PSA), and Perugia (PEG).
Venue Address
Località Le Pianore, 58044 Monticello Amiata GR, Italy
Check-In & Check-Out
Passports, Visas & ETIAS
Be sure your passport will be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned date of departure. A 6-month validity is recommended. Passports must have 2 blank pages for entry stamp.
Check the visa requirements for entry to Italy from your home country. If traveling from the U.S. or Canada, no visa is required for a tourist stay of less than 90 days.
You may have heard about ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) authorization. ETIAS is not scheduled to launched until the last quarter of 2026. Thus, you do not need to apply for ETIAS.
Travel Insurance
Strongly Recommended
For the safety and financial protection of all participants, travel insurance is strongly recommended. Each participant should obtain a policy that includes trip cancellation/interruption and emergency medical coverage.
While we don’t recommend a specific company or policy, we’ve partnered with InsureMyTrip to help you compare plans. Their recommendation engine helps travelers find the right fit, and their team provides support before, during, and after your trip—including help should you need to file a claim. (We may receive a small commission if you book through the link provided. You’re welcome to purchase your insurance through any provider you prefer!)
Cancel for Any Reason Coverage
We recommend Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage for maximum flexibility. CFAR is an optional upgrade to a standard policy that offers the highest level of protection if your plans change. Unlike standard trip cancellation insurance, which only reimburses you for specific covered reasons, CFAR allows you to cancel your trip for any reason at all and receive a partial refund.
How CFAR Works
- It is purchased as an add-on to a regular travel insurance policy.
- It typically reimburses 50–75% of non-refundable costs (varies by policy).
- It must be purchased within 10–21 days of your first trip payment (varies by policy).
- You must cancel your trip at least 48 hours before departure.
To qualify for CFAR coverage, you must insure your deposit within the required timeframe. You do NOT need to insure your entire trip cost upfront. To keep your initial premium low, you can estimate your travel dates, insure your deposit, and adjust your total insured amount later as you make additional payments.
Physical Accessibility
Property Accessibility
While the land of Le Pianore is mostly flat, it is set in the mountains with uneven terrain.
- There are a few steps to some bedrooms and common areas.
- Some steps do not have railings; although there’s usually a workaround.
- The grassy areas are uneven in some places.
- The buildings and pool are in close proximity to one another.
- Getting to the yoga shala requires walking up a flight of stairs.
If you’d like to talk through whether this retreat is a good fit for your needs, I’m always happy to connect!
Excursions & Yoga
Excursions: All outings together have been chosen with consideration for accessibility. Pienza, for example, is mostly flat and human-scale. Other places will offer options to meet varying needs.
Yoga: Melissa teaches from a trauma-informed lens and prioritizes accessibility, choice, and the heart of yoga’s purpose. Her classes invite you to befriend your body-mind, support your nervous system, and develop self-trust. Expect slow-paced movement with a variety of options so that you can explore what feels supportive for your body. No experience with yoga is necessary. Beginners to seasoned practitioners are welcome.
Weather
The area sits at about 734 meters above sea level, so its climate is cooler than the lowlands. In early June, expect days in the mid 70s–mid 80s °F (23–29 °C), with cooler evenings, often in the low 60s °F (15–18 °C).
